The First in Central Asia: Narxoz will issue NFT diplomas

Narxoz University held an open competition to create a platform for NFT-diplomas based on blockchain technology.

In its activities, the university adheres to the principles of academic integrity, transparency, as well as requirements for high quality education and research. The use of NFT-diplomas in the practice of Narxoz is logical and natural.

NFT diplomas include the metadata of graduates, which will be stored and protected in the blockchain system. This initiative was supported by the Business Council of Narxoz University, which confirms its importance and prospects.

Vice-Minister of Digital Development, Innovation and Aerospace Industry of the Republic of Kazakhstan (member of the Narxoz Business Council) Asset Turysov notes:

“Introduction of NFT diplomas is an important stage in the digitalization of education. Kazakhstan strives to become a leader in the digital transformation of state and business. The introduction of digital diplomas will eliminate any possibility of fraudulent actions with diplomas. It will be impossible to falsify NFT diplomas, as they are issued using blockchain technology. It is gratifying that Narxoz will become the first university in Central Asia to issue NFT diplomas. The dynamics of the university’s development and such bold decisions as the introduction of NFT diplomas indicates the openness and transparency of the university.”

Information using blockchain technologies excludes any possibility of subsequent changes. This ensures a high degree of security and protection of the document. Each NFT diploma will be assigned an unique smart contract that excludes its forgery.

For the first time, the Massachusetts Institute of Technology began to apply the practice of creating NFT diplomas in 2017. Now this technology will also be available in Kazakhstan.

Miras Daulenov, President of Narxoz University, stresses that today we are opening a new stage of digitalization of Narxoz and for the first time in Central Asia we are introducing diplomas that are completely protected from counterfeiting.

“Our university always pays attention to the world’s leading practices and achievements in the IT industry. We adhere to the policy of openness and high quality of our brand – an educational product (programs), after completion of which Narxoz students will now receive digital diplomas that will not need to be notarized, and information about the diploma holder, the program and the year of completion of training will now be embedded into a digital diploma. It will be imposible to falsify or modify such diploma due to blockchain technology used,” –  Miras Daulenov explained.

According to the President of Narxoz, along with digital diplomas, the university will continue to issue educational documents made at the Banknote Factory of the National Bank of the Republic of Kazakhstan, due to the requirements of the legislation.

The team of developers of NFT diplomas for Narxoz received advanced knowledge from the best universities in the world and possibility of their application in such companies as Amazon, Meta, Yandex, Ethereum and Collider Craftworks.

“Narxoz is boldly moving forward, embodying innovative trends and willingness to apply best practices adopted at the world’s leading universities. This is demonstrated by new campus of Narxoz, which uses the most advanced digital technologies and teaching methods. The university’s initiative to introduce NFT diplomas is an example of transparency and openness of its management, as well as its responsibility to society for quality of education provided by Narxoz,” -emphasized the founder of developer company Taurat Janabekov.

Since 2007, the Verny Capital Group of companies has been engaged in the systemic transformation of Narxoz University, paying special attention to improving academic quality and renewing the infrastructure. This is part of the group’s social investment program. The University is a non-profit organization, all profits of which are invested in the further development of the university.
